About

About Kindred.

A federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit, built by one founder around a single observation about incentives.

The organization

Kindred Matchmaking Society is a federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit, incorporated 22 July 2026 under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (corporation number 1810733-5). It is based in Toronto and is launching in the Greater Toronto Area.

The founder

Bilal Ahmad is the founder and Executive Director of Kindred Matchmaking Society. He holds an MBA in Information Technology.

He built and ran Great Deals 4 Canada, an online electronics import business profitable for roughly eight years, and currently serves as President of North American Operations at an international student management company, where he works on recruitment into Canadian and American private schools. Earlier work at WhereiPark, a two-sided marketplace, gave him direct experience of the dynamics that govern platforms where both sides have to show up for either to benefit.

Kindred came out of a straightforward observation about incentives. A dating platform that charges a subscription makes more money the longer a member stays single, and no amount of good intent inside such a company changes what its revenue depends on. A not-for-profit with a one-time fee removes the conflict rather than promising to resist it.

He designed and built the Kindred platform himself using AI-assisted development, at close to zero capital cost, and is responsible for strategy, product, the matching architecture, research partnerships, and governance.

The mark

Two open circles of equal size overlapping slightly. They represent two whole lives that share a middle without dissolving into one another. Deliberately not hearts, not a filled Venn, not figures.
